Warning you Are Entering the BAND Zone!

Tall Ships, a British band composed of three handsome guys, Jamie, Ric, and Matt; are out and about with their single, Plate Tectonics. Last month they played with We are Scientists and are going to record a new album to be released in 2012. Not much is really heard of them here since their popularity is still growing in the UK. But their catchy chords and powerpop beats are sure to catch your attention especially when the music video has an indie feel of a moving photograph. You can check their music on the above link, search their videos on youtube, or check out their funny conversational blog.
Here is another other song from them

The Radio Still Rocks On...(All About a Podcast)

Haunting noises of what anyone can assume to be the wind blowing, the howling of wolves, and the voice of a creepy man laughing is heard from speakers connected to a computer. These things might be the stereotypical characteristics of an old horror movie but in reality its actually the opening of The Horror! (Old Time Horror), an audio podcast aired since 2007 from the company Relic Radio. Ranging from ghosts to strange coinciding events, Old Time Horror delivers stories straight from the now vintage past. Although, they won't exactly freak you out of your seat, it will take your interest or rather amuse you for the hour.So for all you vintage lovers out there, check this one out.

True Blood Sizzling Season 4: a Spicy New Season

With season 3 of True Blood ending with a Vampire King put to an ironic rest and the main girl disappearing into a dreamland nobody knows where, TB (teehe TB) gave a cliffhanger for hooked watchers to devour and soon enough wither in hunger for a new season. Months have passed with followers anticipating and reading up articles of what is to come. Some speculated that the new season might “suck” because the third season didn’t live up to the standards of the original Sookie Stackhouse novel series written by Charlaine Harris. Now with a new opening episode premiering these past two Sundays, True Blood is not playing games no more.
So far watching the first few episodes, things have gone a whole new twist. Eric Northman as usual has proved to be one smart cookie; Bill Compton has gone eerily weird yet again; Tara is busy having a lifestyle while being with her girlfriend [girlfriend say what?!]; and for once vampires are not the only creatures among the living (yeah not listing the whole entire list of episode spoilers for those who haven’t watched it yet, sorry).
Nope, this season is not playing cards on the table but rather witches and fairies as a new set. Right now I am still just chewing on the ending, the middle, and the beginning of the first episode. IF anything I am looking for more eye openers like this one. from Season 3 Too bad the Vampire king couldn't stay for another season.

Another Reason to Go See X-Men (small spoiler)

Two weeks ago I had a great time not only hanging out with a few friends but finally watching the anticipated X-Men First Class. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews from other people I know who have watched it but I figured its time to be my own judge of it.And guess what: I #@% LOOOVED IT! Of course, the film won't be exactly as the comic books in certain areas, but I definitely had an eye opener to the comic book characters, especially Mystique, Professor X, and Magneto. If I had the money, I would absolutely-positively watch it again. I loved the scene in which Mystique's character is introduced. Extremely adorable in my opinion. (AND YES MYSTIQUE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER!!... but shhhh don't tell anyone.)...Anyways, I am excitingly satisfied with this movie because despite the short viewing of it, you see how the characters develop and even show a human side to them. I was actually surprised in seeing the development of Magneto and Professor X because of what I've seen in the cartoon series and hearing about them. For some of my friends who are fans of the comic book series, it wasn't much of a surprise but they did appreciate how it was shown. If you like superheroes and you love some kick ass mutant action: WATCH IT!!!
oh and P.S. MYSTIQUE ROCKS MY SOCKS...and again don't tell anyone ;D

Rockin' Website for Music Lovers

Two summers ago my mom got me a guitar along with an amp  for my birthday. I loved the guitar so much that I even name it Emma.  It was one of the best summers I ever had. But like many things, I never really picked it up for more than an hour. So, I decided this summer, along with other things, I will do my best to get into playing it.
Learning how to play a guitar is not easy. I have gone through podcasts and even videos on how to play but never really understood it. One day, I bought a chord sheet book in which it showed diagrams on how to hold the guitar and all those fancy details. It helped me get to understand chords but didn't give me a song I would like to play.
With the internet available at school, I looked up chord sheets for my favorite songs and stumbled upon a website called Ultimate-Guitar.com.
Me with my guitar Emma
Formed in the 1990's, it has become a source for people to learn their favorite songs and even post tabs for people to use. There are forums, interviews, lessons, and even contests. Its as if it were an online magazine for music lovers. Although, it may seem as if its only for guitars there is an occasional random drum tab. I DEFINITELY recommend this website for anybody who is interested in learning how to teach themselves guitar or just rock out their favorite song.

It's Written All Over Your Face

a micro expression of Tim Roth
As the week goes on, I find myself even more wrapped in my new addiction. It's not drugs and its not alcohol. Its a TV show famous for representing a science that has been used lately from government agencies like CIA or FBI. If you are still trying to figure what it is, here is a hint: (Tim Roth plays the main character who also played a role in the 2008 version of The Incredible Hulk). Yep, its Lie To Me. I guess I have a thing for Crime Shows. However, Lie To Me has its own quirk: its actually based on a proven science. As a matter of fact, on the official website of the show there is a blog section where Dr. Paul Ekman, whose work is the basis of the show, explains the science behind each episode. This show doesn't fail to give you modern day examples for you to know that micro expressions is something real and still happens today. If you love Criminal Minds, you will love this show. It has its twists and Tim Roth to perform the perfect role as the main guy who sees all. Don't knock it until you try it. Who knows, you might actually learn something.

Red Riding Hood Remix (a Review byte)

A girl running through the woods with a blood red cape is an interesting image to look at when it comes down to movie ads. But when you are in a movie theater waiting for the beginning credits to roll in you are hoping to be scared off your seat; especially with a title such as Red Riding Hood in blood red font. This movie is a werewolf story taken place in medieval times with actors dressed elaborate enough to bring you back to that time shared by shows like Hercules and Xena The Warrior Princess. Although, the title is promising with its blood red color, the gory scenes are left to be desired. There aren't any good hot sex scenes despite the romantic turmoil and the dialog doesn't match up with the suspenseful music. Despite these certain factors, Catherine Hardwicke did a good job bringing the original parts of the childhood fairytale at the conclusion of the movie. So, expect the DVD to have better extras than the actual production. I will give it 3.5 stars for its attempt at giving it a Grimm Brothers theme but not doing the full scare it could have done.

Cowboy Be-bop Boots! and Dr. Oz

With the chance of new things happening, adventures ahead and craziness altogether; I was able to get some good shoes for that "new promise" look. Awesomely enough I was able to get two pairs of shoes: a pair of boots and a pair of Airwalk boot style sneakers (don't really know what to call them). They were on sale at a local Manhattan Payless Shoe Store and I figured why not? As you can see, the boots have this Bob Dylan thing going on. If you replace the belt buckle on the side with one of those old school cowboy star things I swear it would be a total throwback to the Twilight Zone but enough of that....
The other pair of shoes are awesome because of the good graphics on the whole entire fabric of the shoe. For those of you gals who are into good graphic shoes I recommend these with some good fishnet stockings, a skirt or something quite rocking to show those crazy graphics out. Buying these two pairs of shoes made me think of an episode on the Dr. Oz show about high heels. It is an interesting thing to think about something so simple as shoes affect your health. Dr. Oz is a show hosted by a doctor who gives recommendations that are natural to its best in helping people avoid medical risks. In the segment I am referring to, Dr. Oz talks about the fact that wearing high heels 4 inches and above affect not only your gait but can cause other medical risks of having knee joint problems and spine alignment issues. Sure high heels define those legs but at the same time: is it worth it? Dr. Oz is a very good show for "adult" problems I am sure younger people than the audience who goes to the show share similar/same health problems/risks. I recommend to watch it because you will be surprised with the small things that matter a lot to your health. If you are interested in watching more on what he has to say about high heels click here

Marcy Sparx: Mini-Comic (another comic book review)

Me and those damn reviews huh? (Lol). All humor aside, I really wanted to review this comic in the first place because a) I have never known of its existence and b) the artwork and color scheme is just in my market c)plus it has to do with supernatural stuff like angels, demons, and the usual the-end-of-the-world status. As a matter of a fact, my main reason for buying this comic book is because it mentions many actual legends, myths, and biblical names. The issue I read was the third in the mini-series, which is the first one I ever read for the moment so I don't know about the other issues (by the way this is not the cover of the issue I read). As you can see from the style it is a dark color scheme type. However, what gives it another bonus brownie point is the crass but true humor in the dialogue. The main character turns into a devil-girl usually when in combat and when she changes back she is a blond girl. Most of the time when I pick comic books, I am not usually into blonds but this one takes the cake. She is punky and funny and to mention kick-ass. (Yes, another female superhero). I personally  have a knack to get comic books with female main characters lately because I like to see females who take action instead of saying, "oh my hero." Though, there is Lois Lane; who was a woman with a career (among my friends we have come to the theory that she is a lizard woman but that is another blog post for another day).I guess right now I am more into female superheroes taking action and still being feminine. (I recommend finding a Comic Book Jones near you if there is because they have good prices and clearance items)

Lady Mechanika (a comic book review)

Yesterday a few friends and I went to Comic Book Jones to catch up on some comics. It was my first time there so I was very interested in the array of comic series they had on display. I got two comics called Lady Mechanika and Mercy Sparx. Both had awesome punky and grungy themes through their female characters. In Lady Mechanika you there is more of a SteamPunk theme in the artwork, which I frankly find amazing because it actually takes place in the 1800's. The main character is just awesome and kick ass. For the beginning of the comic it has a basic plot to follow. There isn't really that much of a mystery to get into in the beginning. Although, if you are into comics with kick-ass female main characters that curse like a sailor and a dark color scheme to go along with it, I recommend Lady Mechanika.
